Practical checks for safer marketplace conversations and payments.
Inspect before paying
Check the item, documents, serial numbers, and condition in person when practical. Never make an advance payment merely to reserve a listing, release a parcel, or unlock a refund.
Protect your UPI account
Scanning a QR code or entering a UPI PIN authorizes a payment from your account; neither is required to receive money. Reject collect requests you do not recognise and confirm every payment in your own bank or UPI app.
Watch for impersonation
Do not rely only on a profile name, logo, caller ID, screenshot, or payment receipt. Verify the person and organisation independently before acting.
Reject remote-access requests
Never install a remote-access or screen-sharing app at a stranger's request. Never share an OTP, UPI PIN, card PIN, password, recovery code, or full screen.
Keep a platform record
Be cautious when someone immediately pushes the conversation or payment off-platform. IndiaBusinessHUB messages can provide context for a report, but the platform cannot guarantee or reverse a transaction.
Meet safely and report concerns
Use a busy, well-lit place when meeting is practical, bring another person for valuable items, and use the report control on suspicious listings or profiles. Contact your bank or payment provider promptly if money may have been sent fraudulently.
